Our Story

Susie's Boutique began with two people who met working at a wholesaler's — and decided to build something of their own together.

We started online, selling from home, until we outgrew the house. Looking for somewhere to store and ship orders, we came across a little shop in Gee Cross — it was only meant to be storage, but it was ready-made as a shop, so we opened the doors to the public too.

Business grew, and we wanted more of a challenge, so in 2015 we moved to a shop in central Romiley. Then, while we were trading there, the pandemic hit. We didn't know whether to carry on or wait it out — shops couldn't open. We decided to carry on, and online suddenly took off. Susie spent her days taking photos while Asif packed every order, and together we drove around delivering parcels by hand to customers' front doors — masks, gloves, all the pandemic rules — sometimes for hours at a time.

When we outgrew the house again, we moved operations back into the shop, though it stayed closed to the public. As things kept growing, a small unit came up at Chadkirk — we took it straight away.

When our lease on the Romiley shop came to an end a couple of years later, we made a hard choice: let it go rather than renew. Chadkirk's landlord then offered us the chance to open a boutique on the same site as our warehouse — and we jumped at it. That's where you'll find us today.
